Dr. Barry Hoffman grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He received his degree in Dentistry from the University of Michigan and served as undergraduate president to Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity. He received his Clinical Certificate in Orthodontics and a Masters of Science degree in Anatomy from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Hoffman and his wife, Linda, moved to Calgary in July 1977. Dr Hoffman has been practicing orthodontics continuously in Northwest Calgary since July 1977. He is a good standing member of the:

- Canadian Association of Orthodontists
- American Association of Orthodontists
- World Federation of Orthodontists
Continuing education has taken Dr. Hoffman across North America over 30 years. The American Board of Orthodontics in 2005 recognized Dr. Hoffman again through its re-certification process. His publication on orthodontic bracket bonding technique has been presented to local, national and international audiences.
Dr. Hoffman’s current interests include the incorporation of the most recent technological advances in Orthodontics, including Damon braces, Invisalign clear braces and the custom Indirect Bonding system: Insignia. Dr. Hoffman has utilized 3D Cone-beam tomography on a routine basis for several years as an integral part of his practice. Early treatment of orthodontic problems has always been a special area of interest for Dr. Hoffman.
