A: No it does not hurt to get them on, but expect discomfort for about 1-4 days, as the teeth start moving.
Q: How long will I have to wear my retainer?
A: Our professional standard of care is to wear retainers long term, as long as you want, to keep your teeth straight.
Q: Can I have a permanent bonded retainer on the upper as well as the lower?
A: In most situations we do not recommend it.
Q: Will the braces affect my speech?
A: As with any new appliance, there is usually a period time, until your mouth gets used to it.
Q: Will I get needles here?
A: No, our office has no appointments that require needles.
Q: Do I need X-Rays to start treatment?
A: Yes, X-Rays provide valuable data. The information gathered is used by your Orthodontist to plan your own individual treatment.
Q: Why do I need X-Rays halfway through treatment?
A: To monitor root positioning and tooth movement.
Q: Why do I need X-Rays after my braces are off?
A: To check the final position of the teeth, and to monitor growth of wisdom teeth.
Q: What is a 3-D X-Ray scan?
A: It is a scan similar to a medical MRI, that when processed provides a three dimensional view of the skull. One scan provides all the information needed without having to have multiple standard X-Rays.
